The Card System

Sets & Types

Every card in Waymark is defined by two axes: where it exists in the world and what kind of place it is.

Geography is gameplay. Your deck strategy emerges from real-world exploration and the places you've discovered.

Axis 1

Sets

Sets represent where a location exists in the world—its geographic region, city, or cultural area.

Waymark expands globally by adding new Sets. Each Set captures the unique character of a place: the Front Range's granite spires, the Colorado Plateau's red rock formations, New York's towering architecture.

Axis 2

Types

Types define what kind of place it is—its fundamental character and gameplay identity.

A Geology card harnesses Earth's raw mineral power. A Monument represents human-built structures that endure. A Wild card channels untamed natural forces. Types create strategic archetypes.

Place Types

Types define gameplay identity and strategic archetype. Every location belongs to exactly one Type.

Berkeley Pit
TYPE

Geology

Earth's raw formations and mineral power. Mountains, canyons, rock formations, and geological wonders shaped over millions of years. Geology cards harness the planet's fundamental forces.

Examples:

The Third Flatiron, Delicate Arch, Grand Canyon, Everest Base Camp, Giant's Causeway

Strategy:

Geology builds enduring defenses and overwhelming power. Slow to deploy, impossible to remove.

Structures built to endure. Towers, bridges, lighthouses, and architectural achievements that stand as testaments to human ambition and engineering. Monument cards command the field with presence.

Examples:

Empire State Building, Golden Gate Bridge, Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, Big Ben

Strategy:

Monuments provide utility and support. They strengthen your position and create advantages.

Strategy:

Wild cards adapt and evolve. They're volatile, reactive, and create chaos on the battlefield.

Building Your Deck

Strategic deck building emerges from the intersection of Sets and Types

Set Synergy

Cards from the same Set create geographical resonance. A Front Range deck channels the unified power of Colorado's mountains. A New York deck becomes a network of interconnected urban landmarks.

Type Strategy

Cards of the same Type create gameplay archetypes. Pure Geology builds unstoppable defenses. Pure Wild creates aggressive, adaptive strategies. Pure Monument provides utility and control.

Hybrid Builds

Mix Sets and Types to create unique strategies. Combine Colorado Plateau Geology with New York Monuments. Blend Ancient Cities Ruins with Coastal Wild cards. Your deck reflects your journey.
